Introduction
The association was founded in 2016 with the aim of preserving and passing on the traditional heritage of Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin, with a special focus on the Jászság region. Its mission is to keep folk traditions alive, especially in the field of object-making folk art. Through workshops, exhibitions, educational programmes, and community events, the association supports the transfer of traditional knowledge, encourages creativity, and helps strengthen cultural identity. A key goal is to connect generations and build bridges between tradition and contemporary life.
Acting as the municipality’s key professional partner in Commheritour, the association led the design process and developed eight innovative clothing collections representing a wide range of styles. By combining traditional heritage with modern design approaches, the project demonstrated how folk motifs can be reinterpreted as living cultural assets. In close cooperation with experts, the association also contributed to the development of marketing materials, strengthening the visibility, sustainability, and community-based impact of the project.
Thematic relevance
To achieve its goals, the Association takes part in organising professional demonstrations, events, and lectures, as well as in preparing and delivering publications and exhibitions. It also contributes to local and regional events in the city and the Jászság region when needed. The Association considers it an important task to map folk artists, craft groups, and creative communities in the Jászság and the wider county, and to build and maintain a dedicated database.
By bringing together artisans, masters, and craft communities, the Association supports their work, provides information, and represents their interests. It promotes the craft culture of the Jászság at local, national, and international levels, supports local tourism, develops professional partnerships, and runs its own creative house, workshops, clubs, and craft communities.
