The Crafts & products section showcases creative objects and product portfolios based on traditional crafts that enrich the intangible heritage of the Danube Region. This section highlights products that are closely linked to specific partners and partner regions, with outstanding representatives.
Craft products can be browsed by product category and country, making it easy to explore the diversity of heritage crafts. The page is also connected to the Community Building section, meaning that each product is linked to its maker, helping visitors easily find and connect with the people behind the crafts.
Nine categories have been created to make it easier to browse and navigate the list of products and services. Read more…
Pottery refers to products made from clay or porcelain. In this category, you will find kitchenware and other functional pieces for the home, such as decortive items and sculptures.
The woodworking category describes items for home decoration, such as solid wood furniture, wooden bowls, wooden carvings and other functional and decorative carpentry items. However, we also introduce items made using the weaving technique, as these are mainly made from wooden branches (e.g. baskets, bowls and trays).
Textile crafts cover a wide range of techniques connected to textiles, such as wool, thread and fabric. Examples include knitting, weaving, embroidery, quilting, sewing, felting, lacemaking and leatherworking. The items mainly represent clothing and home décor.
The culinary crafts category is reserved for handicrafts that are edible and connected to the culinary arts, e.g. herbal products, pastries, sweets, and fruit growing and processing.
Metalworking is the term used to describe any craft that uses metal to create unique products, such as copper engraving, blacksmithing and jewellery making.
Glassblowing is a specific craft for making kitchenware or art objects (sculptures), but we would also include other glass processing techniques such as stained glass, fusion, and glass jewellery making.
Stonemasonry encompasses crafts connected to the use of stone. This includes making stone walls, carving stone and processing it into useful products for the home or for building homes, such as stairs, portals and windows.
Miscellaneous products refer to mixed product portfolios represented by umbrella organisations (e.g. associations of artisans) or by geographic entities such as municipalities and local or regional organisations.
Others include all crafts and products that do not fit into any of the above defined categories.
