Introduction
The Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro is responsible for the protection and preservation of cultural heritage, including traditional crafts as part of intangible cultural heritage. Within this framework, the Ministry identifies and records traditional skills such as the weaving of the Bihor carpet, initiates protection procedures and maintains registers of cultural assets, while implementing measures to safeguard the authenticity of techniques, motifs and production methods.
Thematic relevance
The thematic relevance of the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro to the Commheritour project and the valorisation of the Bihor carpet is direct, as the Ministry is responsible for safeguarding, preserving and promoting cultural heritage, particularly intangible heritage and traditional crafts. As a traditional weaving practice, the Bihor carpet requires institutional support in terms of protection of authenticity, documentation and transmission of knowledge to younger generations.
