A graduate of pedagogical studies, Rodica Ispas has linked her entire career to the transmission of folk traditions. Since 1986, she has been active at the Children's Club in Avrig, within the Ethnology and Folklore Circle, where she built a real craft school. She learned the secrets of weaving, sewing and embroidery from the women of the village and combined them with modern teaching methods, to make them accessible to the younger generations.
Thematic relevance
In her workshop, she focuses on hundreds of years old patterns, specific to the Olt Country, preserving the traditional "chosen" technique and the authentic colors - red, white and black. Her students often work according to motifs learned from village elders, continuing a tradition that was at risk of being lost. Rodica Ispas is more than a teacher: she is a keeper of identity. Through her patient work and gentle pedagogy, she has managed to transform cotton and wool threads into connections between generations. Her value lies in education through craft, in caring for the simple beauty of the village world and in the way she manages to give tradition a future.
