Introduction

The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration (MRDPA) is a specialised authority of the central public administration, subordinated to the Romanian Government. The core tasks of MRDPA are: a) territorial development and cohesion cross-border b) transnational and interregional cooperation c) spatial planning urban planning and architecture d) administration, implementing and managing programs funded from European, national, as well as other legally established sources. MRDPA is a coordinator of Priority Area 3 of the EUSDR in charge of culture, tourism and people to people contacts. The Priority Area coordination is being handled by the MRDPA in Romania along with the Ministry of Tourism in Bulgaria. The two ministries are working closely with the national contact points from the participating countries. The Ministry manages several programmes financed from European and national funds: The Regional Operational Programme, Numerous European territorial cooperation programmes. PHARE - Economic and Social Cohesion programme.

Thematic relevance

The Ministry’s greatest importance is that it means a direct representation of EUSDR in the project, which makes the communication of results easier and will ensure a strong program uptake of the project outputs, including the policy recommendations on the Danube Region Strategy level.
