Introduction
The Consortium of Craft Centres of Slovenia has been active since 2014, aiming to network, coordinate and represent craft centres in order to ensure the preservation, development and visibility of handicrafts. The Consortium also strives to improve conditions and working quality for craftspeople and craft centres. It played an active role in preparing and implementing the Slovenian Handicraft Preservation and Development Act. Significant projects led by the Consortium include the Slovenian Handicraft Festival and Slovenian Handicraft Camp, as well as numerous other projects involving associated craft centres.
Thematic relevance
The Consortium of Craft Centres of Slovenia has more than a decade of experience in mediation between national, regional and local level in the field of networking and improvement of the status of handicrafts in Slovenia. With 10 actors (craft centres), various in organisation, they are experienced with professional mapping of the craftspeople and documentation of their craft, knowledge transmission, organisation of regional and national events that promote high quality craft products and representation, negotiation and communication of this field with the decision-makers. In 2026, it aims to become part of the international organisation European Craft Alliance and leveling up their engagement in project work and manifesting the Slovenian handicrafts.
