Introduction

Institute for Gender Equality is a provincial public institution, forming a key part of the institutional and legal framework for achieving gender equality at the provincial level. The Institute operates as a professional and expert body dedicated to promoting gender equality and integrating a gender perspective into public policies, measures and programmes of the Provincial Government. Its work includes research, education, economic empowerment initiatives and support to local governments, with a strong focus on improving the social and economic position of women, particularly in rural areas, and promoting equal opportunities across all sectors of society in Vojvodina.

Thematic relevance

Institute for Gender Equality is thematically strongly connected with crafts through its focus on economic empowerment, equal opportunities and rural development. Traditional crafts represent an important pathway for strengthening the economic position of women, especially in rural areas, by enabling self-employment, entrepreneurship and income generation. Through research, support programmes and public events, Institute promotes crafts as a form of women’s creativity, cultural heritage and economic activity. By supporting civil society organisations and local initiatives, the Institute helps link crafts with social inclusion, gender equality and sustainable community development
